The boat tracks are generated via an on-board DeLorme inReach SE that sends SBD transmissions via Iridium at 10 minute intervals.  That data is later extracted as a .kml file and brought in to Google Earth running on the local laptop.  The .kml track is edited to remove redundant data, and exported from Google Earth as a .kmz file (way smaller than a .kml file).  The resulting .kmz file is hosted on Beetle’s DropBox account.
